Virginians For Change
Brand + Website Design
Virginians For Change (VFC) is a volunteer-run, bipartisan 501(c)(4) dedicated to education, empowerment, and advocacy around gun violence prevention in Virginia. With over 3,000 members statewide, VFC uses digital outreach, monthly meetings, and social media to demystify policy, build confident advocates, and push for safer communities at every level of government.
Originally called Virginia Moms For Change, the group was founded by mothers galvanized by the emotional toll of repeated mass shootings—and the paralyzing helplessness that often followed. In 2025, VFC’s leadership moved to adopt a more inclusive identity. After attending several volunteer meetings, I offered to design out their new brand and website to help support their important mission.
As both a designer and a Virginia Tech alum who attended the university in the aftermath of the 2007 shooting, this project was deeply personal. I approached the visual identity with both clarity and conviction, aiming to balance warmth and urgency.
To support their heavy content needs, I built a flexible visual system for social media and advocacy materials. This included a full brand kit with 14 icon-based patterns, a typography hierarchy and templates optimized for Instagram and digital outreach.
The website redesign was a central focus: a comprehensive, user-friendly hub where members and newcomers alike could find actionable resources, policy updates and ways to get involved. The site was designed to be informative without overwhelming, warm without being soft and advocacy-forward without alienating a bipartisan base.
This project allowed me to merge design with purpose—to create tools that empower others to speak up, show up, and drive change.
